Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to support the design and delivery of large-scale data center projects. This role requires strong expertise in electrical engineering design, data center infrastructure, AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM technologies. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, can manage ambiguous project requirements, and is comfortable engaging directly with clients to deliver innovative and resilient solutions.
This is an onsite position with the opportunity to transition to a full-time employee role for the right candidate.
Responsibilities
- Lead the detailed design and engineering of large-scale data center facilities.
- Collaborate with engineering teams and field personnel to deliver projects on schedule, within budget, and according to scope.
- Develop electrical designs that support data center redundancy, resiliency, and reliability requirements.
- Review and produce technical drawings, models, and design documentation.
- Conduct field surveys and existing facility assessments and prepare summary reports.
- Perform engineering calculations and technical analyses.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, specifications, and client requirements.
- Review design and modeling production work and provide technical problem-solving support.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external clients to define project requirements.
- Lead multiple project responsibilities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Mentor, supervise, and train junior engineers and designers.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, staffing needs, and resource allocation.
- Support business development efforts, scope development, site visits, and proposal activities.
- Provide professional client-facing communication throughout project lifecycles.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline from an accredited program.
- Minimum 11 years of related engineering experience.
- Strong proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM platforms.
- Advanced knowledge of engineering design principles, standards, and electrical systems.
- Ability to lead large-scale engineering projects and multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license or active pursuit of licensure preferred based on project requirements.
- Ability to successfully complete pre-employment background screening, drug testing, and applicable motor vehicle record checks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience working on data center projects.
- Understanding of data center redundancy and resiliency design concepts.
- Knowledge of hyperscale, edge, and colocation data center environments.
- Advanced Autodesk Revit experience, including complex family creation and parameter management.
- Experience with BIM 360, Navisworks, Revit worksets, view templates, and project phasing.
- Familiarity with data center tier rating systems.
- Demonstrated success working in ambiguous, high-growth environments.
- Strong leadership and mentorship capabilities.
- Experience leveraging project data and metrics to improve performance and decision-making.
- Ability to develop scopes of work, level-of-effort estimates, and technical proposals.
